The baby may be with over size and weight. The fetus lead a life with high level of glucose inside mothers body, so babys body practiced to secrete high level of insulin. That why after delivery the babys blood glucose level drops?

After delivery the blood glucose level mostly returns to normal, still more chance for developing type-2 diabetes, so mother and the child should take preventive measure to avoid diabetes in the later stage of life.
